Default First Test Ride of '09 XP 850, SP800, and SP500

Today I stopped by a small local Polaris dealership for look at the XP 850. This dealership only sells Polaris ATV's and UTV's. Well started chatting with Mike and come to find out that he was the owner. He offers me a test ride on the XP 850, SP800, and SP500...just for comparison purposes. He knows I am after the XP.

The parking lot is a nice big dirt and gravel area. So...no pavement to mess with the test. The XP850 is a big powerful beast!!! Super easy to steer...and rides very smooth. The engine idle was perfect...and the tone from the muffler was distinct to a twin-engine. Didn't really use the brakes...because every time I let off the throttle...the beast stopped its self. LOL!

The next was the SP500. Very smooth...and felt pretty nibble probably do to less weight. Steering was easy too. Solid...and nice over all feel.

The SP800 another power house, but with less than the XP850. I did notice that the bottoms of my feet felt more of the vibration of the engine. Still drove nice...

In the end...the XP850 is still my top choice. I like the fit and finish better...PLUS the 850 engine is just plain sick with power! This is definitely a machine to hold on to tight...or else! LOL!

Price...the Owner quotes OTD...is $8999 (which includes the shipping and assembly) +TTL...for the XP850 in RED.

April cannot get here soon enough...or should I say...after I do my taxes! YES...I always end up paying...so need to see what is left...to by my POPO! LOL!

I've drooled a little myself seeing the 850s at the dealership. Hopefully they'll put the 850 in a 2 up machine.

I was thinking the same thing! I really like the versatile tilt-bed...and the 2nd rider option. Make an XP version (both 550 and 850)...and I would seriously consider buying one.

Unfortunately...no word from Polaris for a 2010 model...

Good to hear that you tried one out cause I just bought an XP 850 LE Nuclear Sunset yesterday. Didn't get to try it out but started another 850 up in the showroom. The 850 has a nice rumble to it and its a great looking bike. Picking it up next weekend after they take it out of the box.

Good luck with your new XP! I'm sure you will love the way it drives...

Don't forget to post some pics when you take delivery!
