pull start problems
#1
does anyone have a picture of a pull starter. i have rebuilt it and the cord pulls and winds fine off of the bike, but when on the bike it pulls out and does not rewind. replaceing the return spring on the rachet, but i think that is where my problem is?? the fly wheel is not seized turns fine by hand. also having problems with my electric starter. when i push the starter button, my solenoid by the battery clicks, but the starter is getting power because it arcs out. i still have power to my lights and electrical up front. ????????

As far as the recoil pull rope starter i agree with eggenz7 that the spring needs replacing , it might not be broken but is probally weak from the heat these springs get ; these springs are heat tempered for strenth when they are forged in the manufacturing .
They weakened over time from the engine tempertures over time even if they're hardly ever used , they will last longer if they are properly maintained ; which requires removing the starter housing and cleaning and regreasing them but not many people do this rarely if ever !
So this is most likely the case and it should be replaced , hope this help's ; and welcome to the forums !........
