Default Where Do You Get Better Service On Your Polaris?

Just for the sake of comparison, I want to know in everyones expirience which type of dealer is doing a better job of servicing your Polaris? Is it the dealer that sells only Polaris or is it the dealer that sells many lines of ATV's?

My expirience with my hometown multi line dealer has been great. It seems that they are up to par on all avenues of the ATV sales/ service arena. They have parts for the accesories they sell and all service related products on hand. Their pricing is better than some multi-line dealers but not as good as others. In the town where I reside now, we have a single line polaris dealer that is the only dealership for ATV's for 40 mile radius. This dealer rarely has parts, no accessories, and is very high priced. Being the only dealer locally service is a week out because of the quantity of quads here. We can ride them on the streets here in SD. There are two private small engine shops that will work on anything but Polaris around so they can take care of my Honda's if the need arises.

What I'm getting at here is I like the bigger Multiline dealer that still cares about you better than the single-line dealer that has the monopoly. What does everyone else feel? The dealer I've bought all of my wheelers from sells Polaris, Honda, Yamaha. The other dealer in that town sells Arctic Cat, and Can Am. 5 milles out side of that town there is a Kawi dealer. So I think there has to be competition involved to keep these dealers "honest".

MEGA,

Personally, I think the best place to have your Polaris serviced is in your garage or driveway. Nobody pays more attention or care to mine... than me. I like to know EXACTLY what and how something was done to mine.

Of course, there are times when there is a need to go back to the dealer. I think the quality of of service at a dealer depends purely on the attitude of the owner and the folks that work there, and the skill of the technicians. Yes, I think that more competition helps play a small role in the level of service, but probably has more impact on the pricing of the machines than the service you receive.

BTW, the biggest dealer in our area, who is a multi-line dealer, is not known for good service. On the other hand, my dealer, and another dealer a little farther away who only sell Polaris, get far better marks for their service. I have spoken to the tech at my dealership on a number of occasions, and he is extremley knowledgeable... a little "wacky" maybe... but knowledgeable nonetheless.

Mine is a multi line dealership and it's the pits. Have to drive 90 miles to find another dealership. This dealership start out as just a HD dealership and expaned from there. And from the locals I've talked with is that their policy is to kiss the *** of the customers with deeper pockets. People like myself they are rude & conniving. And here I sit for the third time this with in the middle of a snow storm. With 4 inches and climbing with my Polaris Sportsman & plow setting in their F*&#ing shop. And their prices and parts availibility are unreal as far as that goes. I think the problems are mostly with the ownership. Their either rude conniving liers or not.

In your own garage is where it starts, with a quality manual to assist you.

Doug- Sounds like you need another dealer! I understand the frustration with the glacier 2 frame! On the polaris site it shows 5 dealers within 60 miles of kingsley. I have dealt with extreme in ******* and the service was great. Expensive but good service.

Thanks Bud, the reason I went to this dealership is because I didn't have to drive 60 or 90 miles. And as many times that this piece of F*&#ing Junk has had to go to the shop the miles add up. We're in another Mi. storm, so I'm being snowed in again for the 3rd time this winter. And my machine is setting in that F*&#ing shop. I'm betting you have a good idea who this dealership is. This owner owns 2 in this county. Steer clear and inlighten your friends.

Could I pipe in here and ask what the issue is with the Glacier Plow? I have a 800 Sportsman X2, that I was considering a Gorilla Winch and Glacier plow addition, and I am not getting a "rosey" feeling about the plow system from the forum so far.

Yes I know the dealership. I have heard of other issiues from that dealer. My dad has a H-D and has had issiues. Good luck to you. My plate is now reinforced. My dealer welded 2 plates together so now it is twice as thick.I did have to pay for the 2nd mount but only 55.00 and no charge for the weld job. There is also lock-tite on my bolts.

Biggest problems with the Glacier II plow frame is a piece of ****. And the idea of putting self tapping bolt on a plow frame is the dumbest F*%#ing idea I've seen. If yours has self tappers which I've heard it does, and it's not under wannanty. You might consider replace them with real harden nuts, lock washer, & bolts with a dab of Loc-Tite. The problem with the frame that was design for the 07 Sportman 500 and others it mounts to. Is a weak thin plate and self tapping bolts. Take a look at my photos and you'll get a good look of that piece of ****.
