Is it worth re-jetting a 2000 sportsman 500 with K&N filter? Any increase in power? Any other ways to give more power under $400.

If you install a K&N, you should rejet, if you don't you might be running lean and risk piston failure. After installing your filter, do a plug test. Check and see if it's white/tan/black. This will let you know if you need to rejet. A good mod under $400 is a clutch kit or pipe or just a slip-on muffler. The pipe or muffler will add more hp's, and the clutch kit won't add any hp's but will get it to the ground better. Good luck and the best advise I can give you is read......everything you can about hop-ups for your quad.

Just put a HPD aggressive clutch kit, and a K&N power kit in. Will do 62mph, before 56mph. Raced a 01 sp500HO, could not pass it, but he could not pass me either. Both mods cost around $250.

What is the K&N power kit? Something else besides the filter?
