Default 850 xp

Just back from Julian WV, good ride 180 miles lodged in 2 days. I have heard complaints about the stock tires in wet or muddy conditions, I was very pleased with tire performance. It rained all day Friday and it never slowed me even in 2wd. I was most pleased with the hill decent mode, I thought it to be a bit of a joke but it really works. WV has some really nasty climbs and the XP climbs with ease were most get into trouble is the way back down, slick clay and your on a 900lb sled heading for a trip to the ER. I used it on most of my descents and had way more control than the riders with me. One complaint if Polaris is listening, whats with the crazy Britte high beam indicator light, it killed me at night, I had to cover it with tape. Over all I'm very pleased with the XP by far the best Quad I have ever owned, I sill can't believe it's a Polaris.

Me and a buddy picked up our 850's together (Is that a bromance thing??) and we got to ride them for the first time yesterday. I didn't think the stock tires were that bad either... Maybe not Mudlites, but plenty of traction. It had rained hard for 2 days before we went out sunday. The front terrathons seem to like to be sawed on when you're slipping compared to the PXT's on my old SP. The XP is leaps and bounds ahead of the old SP chassis, and I loved it too. One powerful quad.

I had a chance to ride a friends 850 with the stock tires a while back... I didn't like the stock tires... it wanted to spin on everything. This last weekend, I had a chance to take a short ride on that same quad with his new Duro PowerGrip tires... what a difference. The quad is almost unstoppable with those new skins... in 2WD... never had to use AWD, and we were on some slippery stuff.

If you like it on the stock tires you would LOVE it on a set of Big Horns or the like..
The Terrathons really aren't absolutely horrible compared to most other machines stock tires..but those used to PXTs will wonder why Polaris made everything else so much better, called it Xtreme Performance and then put on a tire not as good as the PXT.

Do the Big Horns make that much of a difference?? They don't seem that much more aggresive than the Terrathons. If I do step up tirewise, I'm thinking Mudlite XTR's. I don't want to go back to bias ply tires!!

Did the powergrip tires fit on the stock rims with no other mod's?I have been looking at those tires and they are stated as stock size.

I took a quick look, and they were close to sway bar, but were not hitting. I'm pretty sure the owner did nothing but mount them, and slap them on. However, I'll check with him the next time I see him.
