Default Lift and tires

I am coming up on two years having my x2 and i am thinking about a lift. i am currently runng 27 inch mud lite xtr's and i love the tires, heck i love the unit all together. I am thinking about going up two inches and maybe a larger tire in the future. How big of a tire do you guys think i can run without losing power. The 500 pulls the 27's very well and i was thinking maybe a 28 would'nt be to bad on it. Load me up with opinions guys, they are all welcome as always. i am attaching a pic of what it currently looks like.

I think it looks sweet as it is, but if I were to go up to a 28" tire, I would definitely lift it 2 inches and clutch it. I clutched my 700 x2 when I went to 27" tires and boy, what a difference!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing! After I installed my new tracks on my 800, I pulled it out of the garage and realized it was now bigger than my wife's mini cooper! LOL!

Thanks for the compliment. I am deffinaty happy with the 27's i guess the mentality of bigger is better came over me. In hindsight it is just fine as it is. I pretty much ride with nearly stock hondas and i have no trouble following them. I think i may go ahead and do a clutch upgrade and see what that gets me.

Yeah any increase in tire side will rob you of torque, it will put more force on all of your drivetrain, wheels, hubs, axle(s),driveshaft, gearbox, clutch, and engine, so there are definately some things in there that should be beefed, like the clutch, and perhaps opening up the engine w/ exhaust and airbox modification and more fuel would really show a difference when pulling bigger tires.

you better plan on a lift w/ a great clutch kit if your going to run 28" or bigger tires as it will power robbing for sure. not to mention i think it will be harder on the front end parts. imo.

After getting the opinions and thinking about it i am just going to leave the ol girl be for a while. I am going to go with a clutch upgrade and i would like all of you guys thoghts on what exactly i need. I like to play in the mud and do some trail riding. I would say that 80-90% of my riding is in low gear. There is the ocasional run down the road in high but its kinda rare. Load me up again guys, I am counting on ya!
