I've been having plug fouling since I got my machine about 2 months ago. Well to-day I went to check my carb for water, etc... and when I pulled off the carb I noticed two cracks in the engine block, just below the carb. I fiqure this has been my problem since day 1, looks like a casing defect.
The machine is at the dealer right now, under warranty still, and they said they will either rebuilt it or replace the whole engine. They said they have to phone Polaris first and take my bike apart for a better look see.
It's a sad moment in my life, I won't have my toy for a while now, boohoo!:-( Has anyone else have this happen? I'll keep posting as I get news from the mech's as they happen.
Man I tell you all this really sucks, I had this big week-end plan and to have this happening... ouch! Now I ask myself, "What shall I do this week-end?". Maybe golfing.

My dealer let me use one of their trade ins while I was having them work on mine. I had to promise to not wreck it (if humanly possible), and had to wash it down really good when I was done with it, and bring it back promptly when mine was done. The good thing was they only charged me what it cost them to insure it for a week (I think it was between $5 - $10). Don't expect to get a near new HO with only 50 miles on it or anything, though.

The dealer didn't make me that offer, I had to beg it off of them. I mentioned how I needed an ATV nearly every day to check the cattle, and they eventually caved. They finally let me have one for the better part of a week. It wasn't much to look at, and it was far from a new one. As a matter of fact, I think it might have taken a few hits in the Gulf war, but it ran better than my feet! If you had plans for the weekend, I would at least give it a try. The worst they could do is say they don't do that sort of thing. Or maybe the worst would be to give you an ATC 90 as the loaner, but you never know.

I,m gonna try but this dealer is mainly into selling boats and I haven't seen any used machine in his yard. When I was looking for a used 400-2stroke, he was the only dealer around that had one, their demo model hence my machine, it had 116 miles on it. First day I took it out on a good run, it sputter & cough, die & smoked like a *******. When I got home I took the carb off to drain and there was a bunch of water & crap at the bottom of the bowl. It ran better after that but I just couldn't tune it up just right. So that's why I fiqure it's been defective since it left the factory. So well see what happens, they should have a better idea on how long it's going to take and whatnot. I don't know how reliable this dealer is also.

Was that the same night that they drove old Dixie down? 'Course you may not know anything about that, being from the GWN. LOL!
Is that about the only place in the GWN that sleds aren't prominant? Too warm by the water?

Hey Tim, the reason I got the warranty is because it was the showroom demo and it hadn't been registered till I got it. It is for 6 months and I bought it in Nov. 25,2000, it had 116 miles and now has 748 miles on it,(zoomzoom):-). My quess is you got extended warranty on yours if it was for 1 year as it's usually 6 months/1 year on the chain drive. Have you had any problems with yours?

I looked it up and your right the warranty was only 6 month long,I always thought it was a year.I only changed the brake pads and one disk because I did not keep a eye on the pads and wore them right out, so the warranty never came into play anyways.I have also changed the front rack, pod and speedo but that was from flipping end over end down a steep hill so that also was my fault, but other than that it been good so far.

I had to rebuilt my speedo also after a flip, used a tin can & a piece of clear plastic & a little bit of silicone.
