After weeks of researching I decided to buy a Magnum 325 4x4. I thought I would never buy anything but a Honda. I still have a 1985 250sx Honda threewheeler in my garage still running great after alot of abuse. However, after test riding the Polaris and the features it had I couldn't resist and I feel confident I made a good choice. I am wondering what kind of things I need to look out for during my first few months of riding. I talked to a Atv repair shop today and he said change the oil after I ride for the first couple of weeks. Is this right. What advice do you for a new owner of this bike. I want to make sure I keep a look out for anything until it gets broken in.

You dont need any "special" maintenence for a Polaris just regular maintenence. Keep your oil changed you air filter clean and perform all of the regular schedules for your machine and have a blast.

I have enjoyed my 2000 325 4x4 for a year and a half now....It has taken the ABUSE I have put it through very well...I do recomend you buy the GOODYEAR belt for it soon and there are some small clips that help seal the pvt housing halves together...go buy 5 or 6 more...they are only 40-50 cents each....you will see how you can put them on the housing in adition to the ones that come stock...helps keeping water out..Most of all...RIDE AND ENJOY

Yea, change the oil after the first few weeks of riding (maybe 10 to 20 hours of use) and for the first few hours, don't rod it around, just kind of cruise around nice and easy, especially right at first. Study the owners manual so you find ALL the grease zerks, and don't forget to grease them. Look at the front CV boots every now and again (this is true with ANY 4x4) looking for tears, or leaks. Change the hub oil twice a year, and that is about it. Everything else should be about the same as the old Honda you have in the garage.
Everything I have heard about the Mag 325 is that it is a good, solid, trouble-free machine. They did have trouble with some early oil lines, but it is cured now. It should be able to do anything or go anywhere the 500 will, just not as fast.

There is one thing to tell you, you might want to check the screws holding on the plastic to the floorboards, mine came loose and fell out, not expensive, but a hassle. I think you will love your quad, they are tuff. Mine has been rolled down many hills and only had to adjust the handlebars, just watch out for hitting trees with the front tires at about 45mph, the a arms like to bend, hehehehehe.

Be sure your motor has the new type oil lines going to the oil cooler. They come out by the oil filter. If they are held on by hose clamps at that end they need to be changed (free under a recall). My 2001 Trail Boss 325 (same engine) was not upgraded yet.
