Default xp with bighorns?

For those that are running bighorns on your stock rims how do you like them? i have 26 inch on my rzr and 27 xtrs on my 850 with 212 rims and im thinking of switching the xtrs to the rzr and running the bighorns on my stock rims to get back to stock width.Highoctane did you notice much power differance when you switched yours over?

I'm interested in this as well even though I'm already comitted to this setup. I picked up an extra set of OEM wheels and ordered a set of the Bighorns 26's for $388 which was the best price I could find. They should be here by the end of the week or next Monday at the latest. I was torn between the BG's and the ITP Mudlight XTR's but finally decided on the BG's....hope I made a good choice!

Granted I have the 2.0s..not alot of difference IMO,a little more open tread design and slightly lighter. Anyway, the BHs are about as perfect for the type of riding(mostly woodland trails, climbing over dead fall trees, thick sand, occasional mud, pulling trailers and logs around the property ect..basically everything but real deep mud) I do as you can get. I do plan on testing them in some pretty good mud holes..next time we get a good rain, just so I know what to expect riding away from the house when some mud may be unavoidable..I think they will do respectable, maybe not as good in the mud a the XTR,but likely good enough for me. I does turn the BHs noticably easier than the 27" XTRs,not that it had trouble with the 27's at all..but with the BHs throttle required on take off and climbing hills slowly is real close to what it is with stock tires. It will ease up just about any incline at around 2500-2600 rpm, where with the XTRs it needed to be at about 3k in order not to bog trying to ease up a steep hill.
That is where I notice the biggest power difference, low speed loads...oh and the top speed is higher with the BHs per GPS(not that anyone really needs to be going that fast )..all of which makes perfect sense..smaller diameter lighter tires are easier to turn.

I dont have the bighorns mounted yet for referance.

I haven't received my BH's yet so I don't have specific measurements for you, but I got my swaybar down 1" which I'm sure was overkill! I think 1/2" - 3/4" would be plenty. I saw another post where someone said his swaybar did not give equally on both sides, same thing happened to me, so watch for that.

As for rolling the ends I asked HO how he did it and he told me he used an adjustable wrench to do it, of course it just has to be done on the outside edge and just roll it inward. It worked perfect for me and you only need to do it on the rounded end part facing the tire not the entire piece. Good luck!

I have my bighorns mounted on the rims and my sway bar sitting at 22inchs center to center with the strap still holding it,when i get off work i am going to release the tension on the strap and mount everything. Hope it all works out, and the stock rims actually look better with some agressive tires on them which helps with my decision to try this.

After releaseing the tension i had 23 inchs center to center so i bolted everything back up and mounted my tires.Everything works good and it is nice to be back to factory width,i forgot how good the xp handles and steers. Thanks for the tips on how to do this its what makes these forums so nice, dealers usually never offer any help or know about this kind of stuff.

My Bighorns arrived today with Big Brown. No pics yet but I did weigh everything and this how it breaks down:

Front Rear

tires (OEM) 18.8 (8536 gr.) 22 (9966 gr.)

wheels (OEM) 11.6 (5258 gr.) 13.3 (6022 gr.)

BigHorns 23.6 (10690 gr.) 28.1 (12738 gr.)

OEM Totals 30.4 35.3

BH Totals 35.2 41.4

So the total added weight with the BH's is 21.8 lbs, I guess I can live with that for an upgrade to Bighorns! BTW, everything was weighed on our parts scale which is metric so I also showed the gram weight in brackets and the conversion to pounds is close but not completely exact. Pics to follow.

Bighorns.....aside from deep mudding, what other tire is there?

I saw a set a couple weeks ago on a Outty800. They had over 3000 miles of trails on them, and were swapped from the guy's BF750 before that. They were still in pretty good shape. For durability and trailability, they are close to an automotive tire as you can get. They grip everything but ice.
