Talking XP850 Broken A Arm update

After a week or so I finally got my 09 XP back from the dealer. Polaris warranteed the lower A Arm where the welds cracked and also the ball joint. I hope this doesn't happen again! Has anyone else had any problems recently with the welds letting go on their new XP's?

I also noticed the wheel wobbles a little. I'm not sure if it always did this, or its still something that needs to be addressed. What else could it be besides a rim? The rim looks fine, so i'm not to sure.

There were a couple of guys over on HighLifter that had front suspension issues with the XP's. You may want to check with them.

Front wheel should not wobble.

I'd check your lug nuts on the wheel . So if you grab the wheel when it's jacked up, it wobbles slightly? That ain't good. Bring it back to the dealer ASAP. Could be a slight bend in the rim when the bike ditched....something that's not real noticeable to the eye. Before you bring it to the dealer....take the opposite wheel (known good) and swap it on the hub and see if it still wobbles. If not, then obviously it's the wheel.

Good deal on the parts getting covered. Good to hear Polaris stepped up for you. I've heard of no other A-arm issues on this site.

Mine has a wobble also after my ball joint and a-arm broke. You can see the break rotor moves. I think its a bent spindle. The dealer said its an unbalanced tire. Ya right! You realy notice it at high speeds. Glad to hear they covered your A-arm problem. I have two sets of tires and wheels. It wobbles with both sets, maybe alinement? Have'nt had much time to look into it.

They said it may be a balancing issue also! HA! I'm going to swap the two front tires and see what happens. I appreciate all the responses very much!! Thanks again...

Prob good to keep the speed down a bit 'til you get this figured out. Wouldn't want something going wrong on ya at speed. Shouldn't be too hard to prove out one way or another. Maybe ask to talk to the shop tech guy and have him explain his decision. That way you can question his process if it sounds like bull.

Well, I'm not sure how bad the wobble is on these repaired XP front suspensions. However, if it seems to be "abnormal", I would get it back to the dealer in a hurry. Ask him (first time in a nice way... second time differently) to put it in writing that there is nothing wrong so you can contact Polaris with your concerns and tell them both that you want it in writing for your lawyer in case you get hurt riding if something gives way.

If you don't get it in writing, they will simply have a convenient loss of memory. Maybe they will decide to look at it a little closer.

Good luck.

Check to make sure your front gearcase bolts are secure. Hopefully ours was an isolated case, but all four were loose. Charlie
