Question 2005 Sportsman Tach Problem

On my 2005 Sportsman 6x6 the digital tach stopped working after i had charged the battery. I can turn it to on and then on to start and there is nothing showing up on the tach, but it still starts right up, and the lights work. Also now the reverse/ override switch not right. Now when in reverse all i have to do is just push the gas and it will go as fast as it should when you push in the revrse / override swith, but im not pushing it and the tach doesnt still doesnt work. What could be the problem? Could it be a fuse? If so where should i look for them?

Thanks

you need to see if the speedo itself works or if the awd works. if not then the speedo is junk. sometimes on the newer bikes when part of the speedometer stops working so does everything else.

If your AWD does work but your speedo does not, then it the "Hall Effect" sensor at the right front disc brake rotor. #5 $47.77

So that would cause the digital part of it not to work?

Thanks

the front drive axels will turn when your moving since the 4x4 sytem engaugments are in the hubs. if you have the big black housings with 3 torx bits on them the 4x4 engaugement happins in the hub. not the diff housings like the new sportsmans. if your speed display works its probly in awd system. if the speed display dont work well it either could be the sensor on the right wheel or it could be the speedo it self. you can test the sensor your self if you want to. i can send you a wire diagram. you will need a 9v battery, a led and resistor from radio shack, and a few small wires along with a soldering iron and a small pc board to make the test circuit to narrow your problem down.

this an 05' which means no hubs. it has the roller style rolelr cage hillard clutch front end. if the speedo isnt working and neither is th awd, then chances are the speedo is junk. imo.
