Default 2010 rumor

Just heard a rumor from a fairly reliable source that in 2010 Polaris will eliminate the belt drive system on their high performance engines and switch to an automatic system similar to an automotive automatic transmission. Something along the lines of the type Honda uses.

Anyone else hear anything along those lines?

hell some high end cars are now using cvt transmissions, so it cant be too bad. seems to me it might be more weight added to the bike if they go that way, but who knows.

Poo has done plenty, dropped the bullet proof 500cc sled motor, dropped the 400 cc ATV motor that was the platform for years from the 350 on up, what else?

Thats a sport quad he's talking about. Hmmm 690cc. Dropping the belt drive I don't see happening. A machine to compete with the Kfx 700,700xx and raptor 700. I don't see the motor being made by fuji after the predator motor. Nor do I see polaris developing a single cylinder engine for the Outlaw.

I could see a 700 Outlaw IRS. I doubt it will be a KTM motor as I have heard the contract w/KTM to provide motors is about up. I'd rather see a new lightweight large displacement sport 4x4 to replace the outdated scrambler and compete against the renie 800.

I'd like to see them adopt a metal CVT like Nissan uses, or a dual clutch direct shift setup like Honda has in the '09 Rancher AT.
