My somewhat arrogant view is: Who cares. Life is short and actual fun is relatively rare when compared to the daily grind. It's a cheap price to pay for grins in the long run. If you can afford to do it of course, and your kids have shoes
. -If you look back in five years and try to account for all the small stuff that eats away at your income, you won't be able to do, it just disappears. At least you'll be able to look at the bike and know where your money went. It's an investment in life.

$450 a year
That's double what I pay for my 850, just a few miles north in southern Maine.

HI Ruggo
I was told by the dealer that there was only about 1 to 1.5 mpg difference between the 550 and the 850. I watched an ATV test between the 650 Can Am and some other comparable Quads. Just cruising along the 650 got way better mileage but as soon as they started to ride the machines it dropped to the same mpg mark as the rest of the quads. What have you found for mileage between the 550 and the 850?
Take good care

Hey guys, im looking to buy a new ATV and right now, im stuck between 2 hardcore quads. It will be for work and for play. Polaris 550 FI with EPS and the Yamaha Grizzly 550 FI with EPS. I like the Grizzly cause its lighter and alittle more sporty, the polaris is alot heavier and more bulky then the griz. I want to know Honestly how the Polaris handles on a trail, not no race track but a trail at like a off road park.

Yeah there was a $900 difference between the two on my deal, but now popo has a decent rebate so should be about the same now. Plus your getting 14" aluminum rims and radial tires with the popo instead of the baloons that yamaha puts on. Not saying that the terrathons are a great traction tire, but they offer a good ride. If you test them side by side and sit them side by side the decision is easy.

check out this link. ATV Illustrated-ATV & Quad reviews, videos & riding articles . I am sure you will be happy with either quad. The 550 xp has a $400 rebate and a free winch offer going right now. That is about a $ 800.00 savings! I looked at the grizz when i bought mine. There is no comparision in the ride of the 2. The xp is way better imo.
