I've got an XP 850 and I'am getting 90 miles out of a tank of fuel thats 17 mpg. I dont think thats to bad for a 70 hp motor.

Keep us posted on the reprogram. I'd like to know more of what they're doing. What changes are they making....

Interested in the re-program too! Wonder if I can get the service dept to check my NEW XP 850 before taking delivery?

Well...guess it never hurts to ask...

I posted this on the 550 xp thread. Thought it might help here also.

I have checked my mileage twice now. Both times after 250 miles so it was broke in. I got about17.5 mpg each time. This was all trail riding in 2 wheel drive. average speed was about 30 mph. On the same rides I also checked my 07 800. I got about 16 mpg with that. I expected better from the 550. It currently has 375 miles on it. The 550 has a bigger tank so it can go more miles per tank obviously. No idea what the 850 gets.

This question is the sole reason I bought a 550 and not the 850. I got the non eps since I think the eps ones have smaller fuel tanks (someone correct me if I'm wrong). My old '96 sportsman 500 got over 110 miles to a tank, so I would expect the 550 to be around 100 or so. I haven't even been through one tank so I'll keep ya posted

Pretty hard to guess on mileage. It is always going to depend on how you ride and the conditions. Your Dad's 600 might be bad on gas because it was probably rejetted. Mine was done a recall to make it run richer. It made it easier to start in the cold. The down side it uses more gas. I would guess the 550 is going to be better.

I'm getting no where near that. The best I've gotten was 65 miles per tank, and my average speed was between 25 - 30 mph. Of course the machine was still breaking in at the time so I will see how it does the next time.
