Chuck R et al,

Okay with all these LED light do-dads where ya getting all the juice from? Wouldn't it draw too much from the battery? Or do you run a higher volt battery or just not run them all at once, more operator controlls?

thx,

R'

all the lights i have on here draw about 10amps total. maybe not evon that much. this is why i love led lights. they draw little power. and are bright. all the power is from up front, and run via switch on the headlight pod. i was thinking about wireing it so i could just run a few, or all at once but i havent yet.

as for battery draw. im not to worryed about the lights. but this last winter when i was plowin snow the winch draws alot, and the hand/thumb warmers draw a bit also. im thinking about adding a bigger battery. but havent yet. but eveything is controlled via its own switch. like the 911ep lights are on a switch, hand warmer on its own switch, thumb warmer, reverse/auto reverse lights are on there own switch. iv also changed the rear worklights, and taillights to leds. im trying to find replacemnt led bulbs for the headlights. but havent had no luck yet.

What LED products are you using and where do you get'em Chuck? Also, do you have to do any hard wiring? I made my horn wiring and did the solder, grip rings, heat strink tubing and made a ground, wired to a switch etc. etc. I just wasn't sure how much of a project wiring
the LEDs would be?

Thanks in advance for all the info.!

Hey R' (and Chuck), I have the same flasher box as Chuck, it has 5 wires coming from it, it has a wire for the left and right lights, one for the ground, and a wire that you hook to a hot wire with a momentary switch to switch the pattern, and a hot wire to feed the lights, here is the link to that: FLASH SHO ME LED ME FLASHER LIGHT STROBE BOX POLICE:eBay Motors (item 380133409963 end time Jul-23-09 18:37:28 PDT)

you can get just about any type of led that you want, and just wire it in to that flasher box, I have this light bar on the front of my wheeler: GOLF CART 15" AMBER 10 LEDS- ID AND TURN SIGNAL - KMT Trailer Parts

and chuck has several of these all over: 911EP | LED Star®, and one of these: http://www.911ep.com/products/ls12.asp, on the back under the tool box

I'll post up some pics of my light bar tommorrow

iv gotten most of the 91ep lights from ebay. cept the ls2 i got from my last boss. since i always asked what he was gona do with it. all the wireing i did was solderd and heat shrinked. this way it prevents electric issues down the road. id rather spend extra time doing it right the first time. than having to redo it at a later time.

as for wireing them its just black to ground. and depends on what led star i used. there are 2 differnt types out on the model i have. "i have the older style ones" the front and rear are drone "aka dumb stars" that need a flasher. my side stars mounted on the sides of the rear rack, and the ones im getting for the sides of the front bumper "will be here by wed or so" are smart stars. they have there own flasher in them. but like i said if there the smart ones all they need is a ground and a 12v switched sorace to make them flash. the dumb ones need a flasher. but evon that isent bad. its just a ground. and depends on the flasher. most flashers have 2 outputs. its just wire one side of the leds to an output on the flasher and the other leds to the other output on the flasher. the flasher will need a ground and a 12v input switch power.
the ls12 i have has its ownflash patterns in it, along with a brake function. that regures a 12v key hot wire, ground, and depends on what you want to do. if you want the brake to come on its solder a wire to the 12v brake switch. the flash patterns are just a 12v input. i also would like to add i have 4 of these type of lights for sale if someone wants to add them to there wheeler, or whater you want there 12v and sealed. i can also make them red, blue, amber, white, and green. price depends on the color.

any other q's feel free to ask Rick.

hey 700.

i have to correct you. yes you are right on the models i have and the make. but mine are the older style stars and ls12s/ mine were made tell 2005ish. then the link you added are the newest ones. they have there own flash patterns built in. and dont need a flasher. i like the ones i have for a few reasons. 1) i can change the color in them really easy. and i have the colors to do so. altho i dont just cuz i dont want to cause trouble. 2) the newer led stars are a bit bigger. pluse the stars have plugs on them so if i have an issue with them i can remove and send them in easy. altho i havent had a issue. there a great product. small, compact, and bright. think i still have about 2 or 3yrs left on mfg warranty.

ill get up to date pics when i get the other 2 stars about the end of the week.

Thanks Chuck and 700 for the good info. Sounds like a fun project to-do. I will add to my list, maybe to pursue in a month or so. Preparing now to get my bike trail ready for my next trip to take advantage of my summer.

Cheers,

R'
