Default Battery Access

lol - is there an easy way to get to it? This is on my 08 800 touring - installing my winch, and just need to get the positive lead attached to the battery. Zapped a wrench once - course working midnights now so didn't get to experiment much with it yet. Figured I would ask on here for any tips or tricks to get to the battery easier. Right now I am just working from the left side to reach the battery.

Have you tried removing the seat?

yes seat is off, but that doesn't really help due to the location of the battery. I was even wondering how one changes out a battery on these quads, or does that involve removing other items to access the batter?

LMAO! Wait til you have to remove it!!!! I had fun replacing the battery on my wifes 08 700x2! I haven't heard of an easy way. I had to work from the left, but remove it from the right. It's sort of a puzzle! Just don't do what I did when I installed her winch.....unbeknownst to me, I tightened the positive lead down too hard and cracked the terminal bridge. No problems for several rides, until the long ride, of course. 30 miles from the truck and it breaks! What a pita. Had to do some jimmy rigging to milk it home, oh, and it was a very steep and rocky trail. Needless to say, long ride home!

There is really no easy access for the Polaris 2-up machines if the battery is located where mine is. Mine is inside the front right, kind of behind and under the steering post. I recommend taking off any wedding rings. I touched mine up against the positive post and the engine. Almost welded the ring to the block. Lost about an 1/8" of skin. Lesson relearned....

I bet your 800 is prewired for the winch.

Check underneath the storage up front. You have to remove the box. On my 2008 700X2 there were already leads from the battery run up there for a winch. I didn't find out until after I had already hooked up new wires.

Yes it is prewired, but you have to hook up the positive lead to the battery still.

Well looks like I am in for fun tomorrow then - eh - lol? Yeah it's the same spot up towards the front on the right side. I guess there is one reason I could say I liked my arctic cat better - the battery was right under the seat.....

Well, I suppose that makes sense, but I don't remember it being too tough to hook up to the pos lead when I installed my winch...

I just found the winch remote socket that I had misplaced so I'll be going back in to hook it up soon. Good luck.

How about hooking up the positive lead to the main bolt on the stater. Use this method of tractors with diffucult battery boxes many times.
