Default 08 800 EFI HO Questions

Hey guys- I have an 08 800 EFI HO that I bought brand new. Lately, it seems like the machine is kinda doggy. The other thing I noticed yesterday while pulling a trailer in low was that around 3,000 rpm's it seemed like it was misfiring a bit. I'm going out trail riding tomorrow, so I'm hoping I dont run into any issues. Also, it seems like when the machine is cold it is a lot snappier than when it is warmed up.

The other issue I keep having is that the stupid heat shield rattles and is VERY annoying. I keep bending it and it will fix it for like an hour... Any suggestions on that?

Thanks in advance!

Jeff

The first things I would check are the spark plugs.

x2 on the plugs, replace with NGK's. Also check your air filter, if you haven't changed it, might be time. Changing the clutch side plug is a PITA. I removed the clamp on the CVT intake, pushed the intake out of the way. Then I could just barely get a plug socket on the plug and used a small (6 inch) cresent wrench to loosen and tighten the plug. Make sure the kids are in the house..you will drop some "F" bombs...lol

haha, sounds good guys. I'll try changing the plugs. I just bought some of the NGK's the other day. Hopefully that will take care of her. I'll keep you guys posted.

I have checked the ETC and that looks good. I have almost 800 miles on it. She ran awesome today out on the trails. I love my new tires as well! Can't believe how big of a difference tires make.

Good to hear. What tires are you running and what size? I need some rear tires and was thinking about the big horn 2.0-- 26x 11x 12

I just replaced my rears with the Maxxis Zilla 26x11x12 tires. I am ordering the fronts on Tuesday.

Get some new bolts/lockwashers for your heatshields if you cannot tighten them enough to stop the rattling. I had a set once that bent(and kept warping after bending back) and would rattle on the pipe so I got longer bolts and added a few washers to get it off the pipe.
