i was thinking it may be digital. its got a black face dont it? but i think thats why polaris whent away from them. theres moving parts inside. and with moving parts. if one small piece brakes. it will screw up everything. dose it tell ur speed?

Check the Hall sensor in left front wheel. check pod connections.

If the hour meter is working it's the sensor. Located on the right side wheel (right when sitting on the bike). It had a couple of screws holding it to the plate behind the disc brake. I have a 99 xplorer and mine is dark grey in color. Replaced mine last winter. Found a replacement on eBay for 30 bucks.

Good luck.

The speed sensor is bolted to the caliper bracket.
I'm having the same problem you've got after leaving my 99 500 Sportsman submerged in water(stuck) for a few hours. I pulled the sensor to check for damage, checked the wiring and everything was fine, the sensor worked fine before getting stuck so I'm going to replace it.
