Default 400l Top End Rebuild, wont fire up? Any Input fellas?

Hi All,

I just rebuilt my top end with all new parts from Rick Ritter (An amazing guy to do business with). I went to see if it would fire up, and like how most things work for me, it didnt. I did a compression test, and it hit 118, so that seems good. I checked spark, that seemed healthy, however I didnt see a lot of gas on the plug after turning it over a lot. So I got some starting fluid and tried that, still nothing. Any suggestions or Input?

Thanks,
HoopD

Watch the starting fluid with 2 strokes or u might burn em right up. Try a new plug it might just be old or fouled.

what he said! did you mess with the carb at all? make sure your getting enough gas, check to make sure there is no crack in the carb boot (the rubber between the carb and cylinder. make sure you got a good seal in that area if you dont it wont run most likely.

what about crank seals. did you replace those too? those 2 strokes need an air tight seal to work right

Thanks for the recommendations on no starting fluid, I will hold off on that. I didnt replace the crank seals, however I read that if there is to much fluid in the bottom end that it may not create a good vacum, so I looked for the crank drain plug but i cant seem to find it. I found the counterbalancer plug and the stator/recoil plug. I didnt mess with the carb. I tried a new plug, I ll take a gander at the carb boot again. Thanks for all the responses
