Default Looking at 02 700.

Wanting to purchase an 02 Sportsman 700 this weekend and wondering if there is anything to look for on it. Pictures look good. Its had the water pump cover update done and the carb update has not been done. Has 1600 miles. Any advise?

Also I test drove an 06 Sportsman 700. The price was a bunch more, but it drove nice and had lots of power. Are the new ones worth the extra $$$ or would I be fine with the older carb style? Going to push snow with it and use on the farm.

The line (rubber tube) from the air box to the top of the top pan blocks off . Check that

Would be like a crankcase vent on a car.

Default 700

I had an 02 700 and it led an abused life. Mudded the heck out of it and plowed all winter. After having two EFI Popos I would definitely say it is worth the extra $ for the newer one.

Yep, EFI is the way to go. 500 EFI is going to be my next bike....after the car is paid off.

Still think I am going to get this one and use it for a while and then maybe trade up.

Water pump cover, check for leaks & that it is the updated one (metal), where the top radiator hose goes past the frame, can rub a hole in it, CV boots & joints.

The 02 should have plenty for you.

OOPS saw the waterpump cover was covered.
