Default 98 instead of 99, how much change is there?

I was told when i bought the bike it was a 99, just informed it is a 98, it has wires coming out of the shifter, would they have anything ti do with it kicking out of high gear, and is there any way someone could post a wiring diagram of the AWD wires, need to find out where the four wire are connected to the board, someone has worked on it before and the yellow wire is connected to one of the other wires coming of the AWD switch, was told that should not be like that, so if you have a diagram you post it would be a great deal of help for me, thanks alot
