Default 2000 Sportsman 500 RSE Speedometer Resolder

Below, Daviemun talks about resoldering the transistor. Does anyone have any more information about this? Some more input on this would be great! Pics if possible would be even better! Thanks!

You can take it apart and resolder the transistor to the PCB inside. I took the capacitor off next to it so I could get to it and then resoldered it back on. Works fine now. You will notice that the caps runs on the PCB are on one side and the transistors runs are on the other side. No biggie but just make sure you make contact with the solder on the correct side. This will save you a few $$$. Should work fine. Let us know.

i think take it apart is a bit understated. youd have to cut or crack it open to get to the parts. then youd have to make shure when you put it back together its sealed good.

The other guy was right, the transistor ( if that's the correct name) in question is nested between the big capacitors just Left of the six pin connector on the back ( back of transistor should be facing the capacitor near the edge of the board) I can only assume in my case that because my battery was faulty that this transistor overheated and fell out of the board.
As a result I had no Speedometer or AWD light no AWD and no lights in the speedometer. After I soldered the unit back in everything worked fine and I just saved myself the $400.00 quoted to me at the dealership to-day.
I can email pictures to those who want them.

Regards

The piece that fell out is located at the top of the picture.

By the way, I had mine apart to replace the speedometer glass when I first bought the quad in 2000 after my son rolled it and it sealed up just fine.

Hope this helps.
