Oil In Airbox?
#1
I just picked up a used 2007 Scrambler 500.
The oil was very low, and there's tons of oil collecting in the airbox.
The air filter is pretty oil-soaked as well.
The machine looks stock except for an HPD exhaust system and seems to run fine.
Any ideas on the oil getting into the airbox?
Thanks in advance.

sounds like someone rolled it when you put it on its top or on its side theres a breather line from your crankcase to the airbox and it will fill up with oil, my guess is thats what happened, clean it out top it off with oil and put a new air filter on and see what happens

Thanks.
This machine is almost spotless, looks like new. I don't think it's ever been rolled, or used much for that matter.
Oil was very low, and there was at least a half inch of oil in the air box.
Doesn't smoke, so don't think it's oil getting past the rings.
I'm going to replace the air filter, change the oil and see what happens next.........

Alot of steep hill riding can get oil in the air box also but it takes a long time. Flip a ATV on its side for even a short peroid of time and oil gets into the air box quick, there is a drain tube and plug at the bottom of the air box if it happens again.
