Default TrailBoss/clanky chain

My wifes 04 Trail Boss' chain seems a bit loose/saging. The chain clanks on the frame a bit when ridden. Not sure if its suppose to be taught. So I'm wondering if its suppose to be taught or a bit of play in it and if I need to tighten it, how would I go about that?
Thanks again!

Shouild have about 3/8" deflection on the top part of the chain. You don't want it tight, you'll snap it and cause some major damage.

Check you Private Messages. Sent the pages out of the 2000 Trail Boss service manual. They haven't changed much, so it should work for you.

Wenty thanks for the attitude but the idea of having forums is to discuss issues that other riders may have, not to send answers privately, wouldn't you agree? What help for fellow readers was the last post? Thanks I will send you a private message... really?!?
If I wanted to find that SOMEBODY found assistance with their chain problem, then his response would have been great reading.
If on the otther hand I wanted to hear somebody spit out useless information like "Download the Manual" like you stated I would have had this discussion with my 6 month old Shepherd that is apparently as helpful in this matter as you. The website doesn't have a manual for the year I am searching for assistance with.
The next time you want to spout out something half sarcastic; bring more than an I.Q of 65 or don't bother pulling that empty shell of a head off of your pillow.

(near top of housing) Now by moving quad forward or backward you can loosen or tighten your chain. seems awkward the first time, but pretty easy after that. If you have owners manual it is in there as well. Hope this helps you out.
Here is the answer I found from a much more helpful post. Thank you Blaney!
Perhaps this will help the next guy/gal!

My stomach hurts from laughing. Dramatic irony.
