Default 2010 Scrambler 500

Hey all,
Seems like it took forever for Polaris to get this thing out. I really like the sharp new look, but a little less of a re-engineering than I was expecting.
Any thoughts???

Don't really like the new look. If that's the style they're gonna keep for as many years as they did the old one, they'd better do a whole lot of improvements to the suspension to get me to buy one.

For the most part, like the look except the headlight, shoulda kept the headlights on the handlebars. Disappointed that it's not double a-arm front and efi. Also disappointed that it's not IRS, still swingarm, but not surprised.

He is the side by side specs of the old vs new Scrambler ,looks like the suspention and tires are the same yet the ground clearace is less some how. It has a larger gas tank which is nice. Looks like it last 11lbs , What I do not like is it has the single front Hillary now with the "plastic roller cage" deal now, instead of the tuffer dual hub Hilliary it always had.

The 498cc vs the 499cc thing has me stumped, Does the new Scrambler have the more powerful 48hp DOHC 500 Preditor motor instead of it's SOHC 500 H.O 35hp motor now ?

I didn't even notice that 498cc vs 499cc difference, that could be interesting.

I was expecting at EFI & electronic guages, but at least the gas tank is bigger.

The whole double a-arm vs struts thing I don't know much about. I like the swing arm over IRS, I like that they kept the weight down instead of turning it into 600 lb beast.

Having a 2004 Scrambler and a 2008 Outlaw 525 IRS, I am dissapointed in the 2010 Scrambler. I was thinking something of a hybred between the 2 but guess not. Put the fn KTM 525 in the scrambler with a aluminum subframe w/steel main and Podium X shocks with front dual A arms. I think the problem is the current front hubs and trans cant handle the power and torq of the KTM. I feel they think the scrambler is a great entry level sport 4x4 and want it safe and easy for the average rider. Thats not a bad thing from a consumers point of view but from those of us that are hardcore want something that is on the edge of dangerous and crazy fast. My modded Outlaw 525 can get crazy so quick with a little too much trottle at any time.

I would say the way to do a true renie 800-500 competitor, Polaris should start w/an Outlaw IRS chassis and re-design it to accept the XP 850-XP 550 powertrain. If they wanna use the XP 850 front a-arms and some other components like the EPS, great. Other than that, keep it very basic.

I have a 2001 scrambler 400 and the thing hauls *** down the trail, but it is very heavy and the handling sucks. Idk much about the 500 four strokes because I have never ridden one but I assume that the handling sucks just as bad. Honestly, for the price I think you wold be better off with a wolverine since they cost the same. (Or spend a little more and get a renegade)

I dont like the new one. I was hoping for IRS and at least a 600cc motor. I'll keep mine for now.

According to the article I found below the engine is the same as last years Scramblers but the machine itself is all new with a different engine mounting in the frame. I kinda like the new body work as the old one seamed very cheep. The plastic seemed to look like a afterthought. The new headlamp and plastics kinda have a KTM look to them! Nice read check it out!
