I also have never ridden a atv with power steering, I have heard some riders say that it makes trail riding difficult because the steering is so touchy. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, nice to be back on here also.

Ok guys, here is the original posted question. He wanted to know about the 550 & 850 xp's. Seems like he knows what he wants just isn't sure of what size and about the power steering. All I know about the power steering is that the people that have it love it. Might take a little getting used to tho.

Back on track!

awesome! somebody is on topic... like i said a million and one times, i reccomend the 500 or 550 to this guy simply because the guy lost his last quad over money issues and if he spends less now and something happens again (hopefully not) then he may be able to keep his next one with the money saved. trust me, a 500/550 is just fine, just not the king of power. like i said, they will run out of traction before power, so unless ur dragging, who cares?

Power is useless without handling.

The xp puts it down better than my old 500HO, which would lug if hooked up doing what we were doing today.

Ya' know there's no reason for the Corvette ZR1, or the Hayabusa.. Most guys don't need that power blah blah blah. Their still here though...hmmm

I don't have to justify **** to you pal. I can afford it, so I bought it. I don't care that it was 10G's. Woulda spent more on a thundercat but it didn't handle as well.

Roofer, he's a bully who has to get the last word in.. watch and see.

You will be happy with either the 550 or 850, EPS or Non-EPS. Get out and ride them both too see what you prefer.

We currently own an 850XP with EPS (mine) and an 08-800 (hers). I traded in my 08-800 for the XP because I wanted the EPS and the improved low-gear speed for use with my tracks. We traded in our 06-500's for the 800's. I traded mine because a 500 didn't have the power I needed, she traded in her 500 for an 800 because she wanted more power and they had stopped selling the 700's. Right now she is torn if she wants to replace her 08-800 for a 550 or an 850, she wants to see what the 2010 Limited Edition colors are first.

I can honestly say after having my XP for a few months that there is no way I would go back to the older style sportsman's, not there is anything wrong with them but the handling, comfort, and power is night and day difference. At this point in time I can't stand even loading her 08-800 on the trailer because I have gotten to love my machine.

Like stated above XP 550 or XP 850 you will be happy with. EPS or Non-EPS is the harder question, after getting used to the EPS I don't know if I could ride Non-EPS again......... Maybe next time Roofer and I get out to ride we will have to switch machines for a few miles so we can each see the differences.........

Wow I can't believe you, hoping someone would fall off a roof? You are a disgrace to this site and ATV riders in general, we have no use for people like you! Get over yourself and YOUR biased opinions on a product you have, admittedly, no experience with.

I'm sure the EPS is very nice. But if I had to decide between a 550 with EPS and a 850 without (price is very close), I would opt for the 850 every time.

For the original poster...maybe a sportsman X2 may be another option. May be good for the work you plan on doing.

sportszillasheex, If I saw you in person talking the way you do, I'd have to kick you in the nuts.

You own a couple old junk sport quads and a 500, who really cares. Until you pull your head out, no one is going to take you seriously!
