Ok, peoples I know it's not even September yet and snow fall is a ways off but I've got a buddy that just bought a 08 700 X2, and he's been querying me on my tracks. His Polaris dealer said that the Tatou's were a more popular and cheaper than Polaris. So he's considering them. I haven't been around the Tatou's 4s so I figured I'd get the low down from the forum.

What do you folks think?

Tatou for sure in my opinion because of the differential gearing. It makes the AWD a true locked 4WD. This is for Polaris only. With any other atv, go with the brand you get the best deal on.

 

Tatou makes different models to choose from if you want just snow use or 4 season use.

 

My buddy said that he found some prospector pros out of Colorado for $2895 w/ mounts delivered to his door. The Tatous were $3400. The dealer in Colorado was looking to move last years tracks as he had 14 sets in the warehouse. My vote was to go with the Polaris at that price.

I've been running the polaris tracks and have had zero problems with 4x4. Whats the difference with the Tatous?

I know they use different drive wheels to adjust for the engine displacement, and I could see the utlility for the smaller wheelers but for my 700 the prospector pros seem about perfect.

It seems as though the Tatous are a good set up, but looking at them compared to my polaris tracks, the Tatous just seem to look lighter duty being built out of tubing.

Mongrol, have you banged many stumps with the tatous, any problems with the tube frame?

 

I have the Litefoot made by Mattrack. They are heavy duty and made in the U.S.

 

Mattrack would be my last choice, Heavy & complicated but a good track. I;ve ridden them all and like the Tatou the best. I like the others but would choose Tatou for several reasons. Change quads? No problem, $300-$500 adapts your tracks to the new quad.

Tatous, for Polaris, run one less tooth in the rear drive sprocket than the front. This makes the AWD sensor think the rears are spinning & locks it in FULL TIME 4wd, just like with tires.

I've never had a problem with the Tatous. Still the same bearings (3 yrs & 1700 + mi.) I;ve run them 7 mi on dry ground, under 10 mph cause mine aren't 4 season.

All small differences in the tracks so pick your favourite & find your best deal.

any suggestions where to purchase them online? I searched some and you must have to spend $3k+ for a et.
