Default Plastic Weld Fix (pics)

Well I was working on one problem tonight and I saw that my foot rest plastic where it meets the fenders was cracked bad, so I tried the good old epoxy and nope didn't work so I tried the poor mans plastic weld and well it turned out ok I think....Im happy and it feels very strong to me.

Hey, not bad!! A sand it smooth and some flat black spray paint and it'll be hardly noticable. Will it hold up though??

I've worked on one of my wells a few times. Epoxy(PC7), no go, she cracked again but it was my fault for hitting a tree. This last time I went and purchased a bondo fiberglass kit from wally world. Well was in a total of 4 pieces, pretty much the entire area of your first pic was cracked up. Super glued it first then roughed up the area and layed the fiberglass, both inside and out. I then painted it. It's strong and doesn't look half bad. I have a extra well but figure I'll run this one till it breaks, if it even does.

Nice do it yourself fix!!

How did you weld it? Did you heat up a piece of metal and stick it back together?

I used a Soldering iron and a black plastic zip tie. I to the iron and ran it in the crack to open it up a bit and warm it up then I melted the zip tie on the tip and then filled in the cracks and then ran the the tip over the whole crack to try and smooth it out. Once all the plastic is back on you can barley see it.

Looks very good. Add a little dirt and no one will ever notice.

if you want to strenghten it you can get a gear clamp and cut it into strips then heat it up and press it on the back side so you dont see it... works great.. looks like you gave it stiches lol......

right on..... i only tuched down on the calmps because iv'e done the plastic tie job before they do work for a bit , but the plastic compound are more oily for flex that they don't stick well together... heat the clamps up with a propane torch....
