EBS good or bad
#4
EBS is available now on SP400's at no extra charge. They just have to change it over and send your old unused parts in. Better have your dealer check it out. And dont forget your free goodies that are available on 4X4's.

My partner has a sp500 and he realy likes ebs,I
would not have it after watching him ride. Most
of the time it is great, but when he is going down
a very steep muddy hill with the rear end trying
to pass the frt end it gets hairy. He said its not
that bad you just have to give it gas. That makes
no sence to me,your trying to go slow, but you give
it gas?

I have a 2000 sp500. Lately I have been going up and down a really steep driveway, hauling heavy laods of gravel ~ 500-800 pounds. I can take my hands off the brakes and in low range I actually have to give it gas because even with the load, it will slow it down.
I love it.

When I first bought my bike I was going to get the EBS kit put on at the dealer in a few weeks. After a few weeks I guess I got so us to the bike that I did not every go back for the work and bought the Polaris plow instead. The pads on my SP did where out fast but the new EBC pads hold up very well and I think the new Polaris SP have much beter pads now. When I fly down a straight road and let of the gas the bike does slow down but I imagine the EBS SP would try to haul you down to almost a stop which for me would get annoying. When I ride down a steep hill that looks scary(have not run into many of them)I can put the quad in low range and this holds the bike back when going down the hill put if it still gets hairy one squeeze of the brake will stop me dead if I want it to.Another small thing is I can buy any aftermarket belt to fit my bike.I may be wronge but a EBS quad uses a different belt that has cogs on the top around the out side of the belt as well as the inside of the belt so you just can,t buy any Snowmobile belt and throw it on.If I lived in Colarado or in the some mountanous place it may be well worth it to me to have EBS But as it is know I do not ever even think about it.I have rode a EBS Kodiak and it does not impress me enough to say "I have to have this EBS".
