Clutch clarification
#1
Ok I have a clutch kit for bottom end and midrange. Although the dealership put it in as I wasn't confident enough at the time to do it myself, I now feel ok to do it if I ever need to do it again. My question now, is this one the right one to put say 27" tires on my otherwise stock 07 500 popo? Or should I stick the 26" size, I'm probably gonna go with HL MST'S. I'm asking b/c I'm not real sure about all the diff. colors of springs and what they mean as well as what the primary spring does vs. what the secondary does. Maybe someone could take me to school on this?

what did you put in for a clutch kit? most kits are designed to do certain things. like a heel clicker is a tuneable one where say a dalton is designed for say bigger tires. the primary spring and weight combs are for a high engagement to where a bike may come in to the power a little more at high revs and also for a better grip on the belt where as differnt springs or angle helixs are for differnt shift out rates for the secondary(driven) clutch. are you confused yet? lol

by the looks it called a sport/utility kit. its made for up to 28" tires it says. i beleave(just guessing)its a non adjustable kit that you just replace the parts and go. most likely a high engagement spring and maybe differnt weights and maybe a differnt secondary spring for better shift out. bet grip is the most important on most of these kits as to not to slip and burn the belt.

So Mr. Stendori, my question to you now is do u think I could run 27" mst's w/out losing any power from my 500? Or do you think I should stick with 26"? I really wish I would've bought an 800, so I don't want to sacrifice any power, or as little as possible.

If you must buy heavy tires, stay with the smaller ones if you are worried about power. They drained the power on my 750 Brute when it was stock. It will slow down the 500 for sure.
