for you guys with a Sportsman who have dialed in your rear suspensions....

what notch do you have your rears on? Just curious where people have them with stock struts, etc. Mine are all the way and I'm thinking about lowing them but don't want it too soft either.

I just I'm interested to see what settings some of your run.

 

it usually depsnds on the weight you haul. by adjusting the setting your preloading your rear springs to stiffen the ride to handle more weight. for myself on my 800 i have it set on the 2nd to the softest (lowest) for when i'm riding by my self.

 

I have both my Sp 450 set to the softest setting........Even with the rear seat and storage box.
Softest setting and 5 PSI in the tires .....Is the set-up I like the best....

thx for the replies! Since mine are all the way up and my back is paying for it, I'm going to take them down half way for one ride...then all the way to soft for another ride and do a comparison. Thanks for your input. Do you just have span tools or just used oversized pliers to move the adjuster? Mine seem pretty tight like they haven't been moved in a LONG time.

 

I just throw a jack under mine to get all the weight off and use a large pair of channel locks. Works pretty good for me.

 

Dont forget to spray them with wd40. Makes the job easy.

 

Will it change the ride height. I never looked at where mine are set at. What would the stock setting be.

 

Mines at the softest setting but I have aftermarket HD springs, there like the stock springs set at the second stiffest. I put them to the stiffest once for a loaded down fishing trip,but for general riding it was way to stiff and rough of a ride.

 

I don't think it will change the height unless the springs are already sagging, then it may help to raise back to the normal ride height. It will just stiffen the ride.

 

Yes I do not notice any height difference from stiffest setting to softest either.
