Default Help - please

while trying to change the settings on my rear suspension preload, the adjuster broke into two pieces. So, I basically need another rear shock. My wheeler is a 2001 Sportsman 500.

Does anyone know what years will fit so I can start lookign for a used one? Please help the new guy out here lol. I'm eying some from 99 and 02. Am I right in saying they are all pretty much interchangeable from 96-04?

Also - do you think I can order just the preload adjuster? I can't tell from the online microfiches so well...
