Default 850XP after a 363 mile ride.

I had a little 363 mile ride this weekend with my new 850XP and was very happy with it. I have a major back issue and this is the first quad I have ever driven that felt like a Cadillac on the trails for me. The first day we left the cabin at Silver Cliff WI at 7.30 and drove 270 + miles through WI and MI. I felt great by the end of the day at 7.30 pm when we got to our hotel at Iron River. The next morning we got up early and made the 93 miles ride back in 2 ½ hours of riding not including our one fuel stop.
The handling of this quad is incredible. Plenty of power and great fuel millage. The steering is incredible. My arms felt great at the end of the day. Only soreness is my thumb. I give this new quad the thumbs up. WOW!!! No engine noise or belt noise. The XP is so quiet and smooth. Only thing I thought was better on my 2008 SP 800 was the EBS. On the XP it feels like it does not break as well. Polaris did a great job.

BTW we were able to get the shield from the regular sportsman to fit on the XP. I placed some duct tape on the pod since it did touch but at the end of the trip when I took it off no damage. The shield will be the next investment on my toy. The shield is great for rain and wind. Now comes the fun part of trying to remove all the red mud on the quad.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures. Its from my Blackberry. Forgot my camera!

Glad your back! Was this ride mostly on trails,hi-ways? How did the mileage compare to the others you were with? Any problems? Thanks for sharing the photos!

Mostly trails and some logging roads. Lots of water from all the rain. Perfect because we had no dust at all. My buddy with the 09 SP800 ran out of fuel about 3 miles from the gas station & had to use his fuelpack. I had over a gallon left in mine when I got to the station. Only issues was 2 flats. One on a Grizzly with 4K trail miles (also never a issue wth it) the other on a old Suzuki quad.

I see you do not carry extra fuel and the others do?

I have not purchased a can yet. I sold my last one with the SP800. I am going to get the 1 gallon from rotopax and keep it inside the front box. They are on back order now. There should be just enough room in the middle of it.

Thor! Great pics!

I am interested in doing something very similar for a ride...you did this over Sat. and Sunday? Did you drive up on Friday? I am from the Janesville area, so I would love to hear more details about your trip. I am jealous!!

I know you are aware of the sticker registration on the XP...how did you get around it in WI? Mostly MI riding I presume?

Chadly, We leave here Friday night around 6.30 pm. Get to the cabin around midnight and drive usually just all day Saturday between 150-250 miles. By Sunday morning we are usually tired and are done.

We wanted to go further into MI so we stayed at a hotel in Iron River. Man that hot tub was nice after a long ride!!! I have a green out of state WI sticker on mine. I also have a MI sticker to get around the "must be registered in another state issue". I ride mostly in WI. I feel the trails are much better there. (unless you go far north by Lake Superior). That was the original plan but we overslept. We did not want to ride 3 hours in the dark. Too many deer this time of year. The DNR do not mess with you if you are responsible.

Gas, I have been in contact with Jason @ Rotopax and with the mount 3.25 high. Without 3 inches. Should fit w/o the mount & I do not think it would be needed since it would fit so sung. I did not calculate the MPG no. But my friend who had a XP850 prior said he would get about 100 miles per tank. That's running between 35-45 most of the time.

Has a great time. Too bad I could not take pics of the ride it self. Hard to do at 35-40 mph on a trail with a cell phone.
