Question 500 HO Heat on Right Side?

I have an 04 SP 500 and the heat burns the wife's leg when she rides. Anyone make a panel to cover the exposed area (exhaust and pull start cover) that exposes right leg?

My 05 has the higher floor panels that cover more of the right side of the engine.

I havent looked yet but I could use a heat shield also. I have a 2008 800 Sportsman that on slow rides you could cook steak on your leg. Its better if you are cruising. I asked the dealer if there is an issue and any thing they know of to fix and they didn't have anything.

Yes at a cruise speed it is not bad but on slow technical terrain the right side gets quite warm. I am going to rig a panel to block the heat and I am looking for suggestions.

I had problems with heat on the right leg and put on a reflective kit made by Polaris. I purchased mine from Breezelawngarden. The kit works fine and solved the heat problem.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I also added some reflective material to the plastic for added protection.

Use exhaust wrap fabric on the pipe, it works and it's easy to put on.

I put this stuff on my 96 sportsman, and it worked great! I put it all under the body panels on the right side. I am planning on doing it to my 09 also.

I used header wrap and S.S. Zip ties I ordered it all from Jeggs, make sure you put the zip ties at the top and bottom so it doesn't come unwrapped.

I used the Polaris reflection kit. I installed it myself. It very easy to install and it solved the heat problem.
