Default Electrical problems

I'm new here and am quite lost. Earlier my 2000 Polaris 325 Magnum 4x4 would not start. When I checked, I found that I had no spark. I waited a couple of weeks while I went hunting. Came back and unplugged and plugged everything and now it started and runs great. I now have no AWD. everything seems shorted to ground. The starter is grounded (is this normal)? Seems to me that it should not be since the hot wire from the solenoid should only be for 12 volts. Please help or correct me. I have no manual yet. All help would be appreciated.

The starter grounds itself, thats why there is no black wire going to it, take the front cover off machine and follow wires up fromthe hubs, un-plug them one at a time and with the key on and awd switched on see if there is 12 volts at wires, they are red and grey colored I thinkIf not wiggle the gear shift around and see if its the shifter switch, Ive seen some of these go bad .

The switch is working, I have 12 volts to those wires. Does that mean that I will have to dig into the hubs? I am not a mechanic (only know enough to get me in trouble). Thanks for helping me out. What do you suggest as the next step?
