How do I replace this part? 04 600 twin
Well, I'm retarded and broke something I don't know how to replace. My shifter was stuck last night so I was prying around to get it to shift, and accidentally broke the 6-position rotary switch that is mounted to the outside of the gearbox right next to where the gear selector goes. I believe this switch just indicates to the pod display what gear you are in. I busted a hole in it. Anyway, I need to get a new one so I don't get water inside this one, but I couldn't get the old one off last night. It has a c-clip that looks like it holds it in place, so I took that off and it wouldn't budge. Any help?
It's part# 68 in this diagram, the C-clip is part 69

Might just be stuck. Remove the circlip and work it off.
If your shifter is sticking the seal on that housing(#3) is bad and allowing moisture in and freezing(if you're somewhere cold). Also, both of the shafts in the housing should have o-rings on them. The reason I mention that is I had the shifter freezing on mine and stripped #70. Took it apart and one of the shafts was missing an o-ring(must have been built on a Mon, Wed, or Fri). They only silicone that housing and don't do a very good job IMO. I made a gasket for it and sealed it on each side with the anaerobic schmoo(expensive but well worth the $). Not a problem since!
