I've seen that in a buddies 500 Magnum. The cause over-reving it in low range was what we came up with, it hasn't done it sense.

Same thing happened on my Trailboss 325. I decided it was due to putting 2 full quarts of oil in instead of the 1.7 it's supposed to have. It hasn't done it again, so, I'm guessing that was it. Moral of the story: Don't trust your dealer when he says it takes two FULL quarts!

Also if they roll over the air box fills with oil.

Same thing happened on my Mag, I have rolled it over once, could have been that, I also put 2 qts of oil in instead of 1.9. But it hasn't done it since, it does ruin a good filte though.

Buy a KandN filter . then all you do is wash the oil out no problem and a bit more performance because "hey roll overs happen"
