Default What would you do??

I have a 02 sp 500 h.o. I bought used and not running for $1500.Since I have owned it I have replaced.
battery
air filter
all fluids
rr axle
lr axle boots
brake pads
solinoid
right foot well plastic
I still need to replace some wheel studs and the ball joints have a little play not real bad.I would like to replace the tires with 25'' mud light xt's.The speedo is also not working $250 ish for a new one.
I have installed a gorilla winch built a front bumper and installed a reverse light.I also installed a clutch kit and Aaen pipe.
My question is should I continue fixing it up or sell it and get a newer machine? I have a guy that would give me 3k for it the way it is.Or should I dump another 1k into it and have a 100% machine.

I'd sell it and go for the new ride. Around here I can pick up a 09 500 h.o. for about $5000 before taxes and what not. If I could'nt get that kinda deal though I'd probably keep what ya got. I laugh somtimes when I look at craigslist for polaris's in my area. They got guys asking 4-5k for a 2-4 yr old sportsman which is insane considering the local prices for new.

Ya I know what you mean about craigslist prices!
The problem is the Quads I like are 9-11k examples.
The new 850 xp eps
grizzly 700 with eps
or the outlander 800r efi xt-p
I like the big bores. But I have heard from a few different people that the throtle is jumpy in tight trail situations on them.
I woulnd'nt mind getting a 06-08 used machine depending on the price.

I think I'd sell yours and try to find a deal on a different bike, my dad almost bought an arctic cat 500 auto 4X4 for 2,800 on ebay, but he had issues with getting the title, but anyways, I'd keep an eye on craigslist and ebay

Sounds like you have about 2K into it, that's a great deal on a 02. I'd run it the way it is and enjoy the fact you didn't have to drop 10K to go riding.

All depends on engine condition. You don't state compression numbers or even if you have in running condition, but if engine is tight and you don't mind the work, keep it. You know what you fixed, if you buy another used you are back to not knowing what you have until you ride it.
