Ditto! Learned my lesson the hard way after buying a "heavy duty" aftermarket belt on my old 02 700. Shredded with less than 100 miles on it. Bought an oem and never had a problem for the many hard miles put on before selling it.

skunksquasher.....what year and how many miles on your X2? I have a 2007 X2 and replaced mine with a factory belt at about 1400 or so miles.....I smoked the first one a little. The new belt made my X2 perk up a little too. I think stendori and switzomatic are right on the money.....the factory belt is the way to go......and I'm satisfied with my choice of the OEM Polaris belt...........NoJoke

thanks guys. All I've ever bought was the OEM belts, but it's been a while and I was just curious if there was a new super-duper belt out there.
NoJoke, I have an 07 like you. It's the stone beige LE model. I took the queer decals off it though and replaced them with new ones from a camo machine. looks way better. I think I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 miles on it, but I've worked this baby like it was meant to be. lots of 2-up riding, plowing, and working like pulling a good-sized trailer full of firewood. I also have 26" XTRs on it.
With the exception of the glacier plow, I've been real happy with this machine. I will be picking up a new Polaris belt tomorrow. thanks again for the replies.

Caper,
Your existing belt condition is probably the result of superb engine gearing by manual operation.
Translation = you use LOW when slow speeds, hauling/towing, deep mud and water, steep hills, anything with more stress. Neutral or PARK at IDLE (Like OPT harps on) and HIGH for anything above 10-15mph.

I was thinking of getting one of the cheaper belts that are sold on e-bay just to have as a spare. Anyone ever try one out. Are they any good? I was thinking it would be good If I were out on the trail and I happened to shred a belt.
Like stated earlier I also pay close attention to what gear I am in and I constantly stop and shift her into low when ever the trail dictates.
