I would say that with that mount you are asking for big trouble.

If you look behing that bumper you will see all you are attached to is a small aluminum tubing, which is not strong enough for pulling anything. Please check it out before going any further.

Hi, the aluminum tube is quite thick, I have used it about 6-7 times pulling out of the ice on the river my concern is not to pull to the side , I also replaced the self taping bolts that hold the bumper on with bolts with washers and nuts. I'll post if I have a problem with it but so far so good.

Does it overheat you are blocking air flow to the radiator.

Hi, I don't think it will, the radiator is not tight up against the grill, it is angled back and has plenty of room around it plus the fan to cool it. I'm really suprised that Polaris does'nt offer one it would be a great accessory, really who wants there winch 15" off the ground if you run in any mud or wet conditions. Paulmn.

i dont think its gona over heat. as the winch on the 98-04ish yrs covered the radiator. it wasent right up tight. but it still covered the grill.

Before I drop into something deep, I pull a section of the winch cable up tight into my front box. This way I can just reach up and huck it to "land". I throw the drive switch before going in as well. One needs to make sure the rope does not come loose and get wrapped into the front drive shafts.

I do the same thing with my cable, and while I did prefer the 500HO's winch location, I think you're asking for trouble with the high mount. Aluminum has little to no ability to spring back after being stressed, and I've seen return bends on ammonia refrigeration coils blow out after a couple hundred defrost cycles where the pressure changes from 5" vacuum to 120 psig almost instantly. Aluminum doesn't like taking shocks very much. And yes, I know there are aluminum A-arms and such, but they are forgings, or highly alloyed pieces, not cast or drawn sub-members. Just my opinion...

Pulling from lower in the chassis helps to pull "up" and "out" of the mud-- or ice, or whatnot. Mounting the winch higher, like it use to be, only makes it harder to winch out of a mud hole.
