Default crank seals or carb??

I have been able to get my 1987 trailboss started now and it now idles and revs like normal. The issue now is when I get it in gear it will only go very slowly and if I hit the gas hard it just bogs down and stalls. I have unplugged the black wire on the rev limiter and it still did it. My thought is either the crank seals or the carb needs a good cleaning. Any words of advice....

Had one of these in the early 90's. On mine the drive clutch spring had sacked out allowing clutch to engage too much too early. New spring solved this.

I would definitely dis-assemble/clean the carb first (much cheaper than crank seals).

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!
