Hey guys~
I'm not trying to start a flame war here, but why did they choose to modify the 500 4x4 instead of a 2000 400 4x4? I think it's been proven that the 400 is cheaper to mod than the 500, and the 400 could put out over 70hp with the HPD race engine! To me, it seems the 400 would be a more capable competitor because of more power and slightly lighter weight. Anybody know why they chose the 4 stroke over the 2??

My guess would be reliability, plus a smoother flow of all the power. A 2-stroke that modified would probably be a handful to control in the woods.

My guess would be, because polaris dont make the 400 4x4 now, so they would not get as good of a return on their investment. Why make a kit for a bike thats not being produced any more. Also I think they are a 4 stroke oriented company to start with. There is also enough motor kits out there for the 400 motor now and would be tuff to compete against in the market place. The general market trend is going towards the 4 strokes. $$$$ gj

Well, if they modified a Scram 400, they would have to change their name to 2-Stroke-Tech LOL.

I agree the 400 2 stroke is a better candidate for a full-race mod.

wonder if it will be able to put on the SP 500? that would be cool! probably the actual motor parts would retrofit.

I haven't seen the article you're talking about ... BUT:
I noticed that you said it was the April issue ..

BEWARE! The ATV magazines love to post April Fools BS articles for the gullible.

Maybe it's so. Maybe it ain't. No flame, just a friendly heads-up.
