Default no start

on my polaris 1994 300 2x4 i bought a month or so ago. when i first got it it needed a battery so bought a new one for it charged it up. put in a new spark plug. second pull fired right up. it needed some things fixed before it's ready for the trails. so now it has been not started in a month now. went to start it. nope no start. pulled the plug nice and brown. grounded the plug to the engine could see no spark. so like the genius i am put my finger on the spark plug and gave a little tug on the rope very faint tingle is all that was yesterday today did same test on spark or even a tingle .bummer. does the battery need to have a good full charge to start ? the guy i got it from said it was sitting for about 9 months with out it running. whats the first thing i need to check the kill / run switch ? charge up the battery ?

I'd probably start with charging the battery again...If that works maybe invest in a battery tender...

thanks some good tips there. battery is on the charger now. just thinking when i needed to remove the starter recoil there was a lot of water on the housing with some sludge. think the inside of flywheel could be rusted on the magnets bad and causing a problem ? would that screw up the charging also ?

did you try the pull start to check it for fire? is the spark plug cap/wire in good shape? maybe flyfeel has rust on it preventing a good contact for fire to go thru?

there is hardly any spark. i was thinking with all the water and sludge in the recoil housing the inside of flywheel might be rusted up. might need to pop off the flywheel and take a look.

Are you sure you have good fuel delivery? Machines that sit for long periods may have to have the gummed gas cleaned from the jets.
