Default 1997 Scrambler 400 problems

My scrambler 400 is having some issues. When i hit the throttle it has no power.I think it is a the limiter,it doesnt feel like a carb problem,it at a certain RPM it just doesnt rev anymore. The reverse light has been staying on(very dim,but on).I was messing with it today and out of nowhere it started to rev up like it should, but if i revved it to high RPM the reverse light would come on completly and go back off, then it shut off,i thought i was out of gas, pulled the plug and no spark now.Any ideas would be appreciated.

Just went out and looked at it a bit and the brown wire that comes from the stator is fried like it shorted out somehow. All that is there is bare wire.It did not happen recently, from the looks of the wires it looks like it happened some time ago.Anyone know what would cause this
.

it shorted out somewhere along that wire. but since its all burned to crisp you wont know. the insulation on the wire could have worn or had been cut my something and it shorted out by touching metal. that wire goes straight to the rectifier.
