Howdy all......dmtaylor64, I got the Polaris X2 cargo boxes for my 2007 X2. I have been in the dust, mud and rain with the Polaris boxes and no leaks whatsoever.....no leaks includes driving rain from being trailered on the freeway too. As Moose said, they are pricey........ but it's tops in my book and worth the money for dry gear. I had one from QuadBoss also and I really liked it. My RotoPax fit on the bottom with the QuadBoss on top......the storage is enormous inside. I did get a little dust and water inside the QuadBoss but with a thicker gasket it would be OK. I still line the Polaris boxes with a large heavy duty trash bag to put my gear in..........just out of habit. By the way, RotoPax is a winner.....good stuff. Check out the pics in the link.......NoJoke

One suggestion is make sure you have a way to take your quad off the hill. We had a guy that broke his front spindle and didn't have a trailer to tow his quad and no matter what we tried we could move it no matter what we tried. Well we found someone but he got charged $200 to get his quad off the mountain. Next time we go we will have a small trailer that can be towed by a quad. You will have fun.
I have ridden there a few times...just not with the 800 yet. I know you dont NEED to carry gas, but the 800's get terrible mileage and i dont want to be the one person in the group of 12 bikes that has to drag people off the trail for gas. As for mileage 16 is more than i have ever gotten. usually closer to 12 and sometimes even 10/gal. No kidding, its bad. We have rode 70 miles before between gas stops and i will be cutting it6 way too close for comfort at that distance. I ordered one of the Kolpin packs on Ebay for $60 and free shipping. I just couldnt shell out the jack for the Rotopax

I think i found a perfect fit! I bought that TSC box that i was thinking would be a little too short (front to back short...width is perfect), but then i bought a Kolpin gas pack on Ebay for pretty cheap...and both of those together (pack standing on edge against seat back and tool box behind that) fit PERFECT in the bed togehter. Not even room to slide at all. 2 tarp straps running in an X fromt he passenger handles to the bed rails plus the supplied velcro straps with the gas pack and everything is solid. I cant believe how perfect of a fit that worked out to be.

If you can, post a picture of your setup.

Aaahh, I see. You have the newer style seat back where it doesn't have the metal latch on the back of the seat. A lot less noisy. Looks like a good setup to me. Can you provide a link for the box you bought. It looks a lot like mine.

I guess i never knew they were ever different...mines an 07 800. I still cant believe the fit...the way my luck goes it should have been too big by about half an inch! Now, i gotta try to find some kind of gasket to try to seal that box lid a bit. Any ideas?

Small strip of weather seal. Hardware store or Home Depot type place has them in various sizes.

Yeah, i have seen them on ebay (you can usually get them cheaper there by the way), but not really what i need. It seems like it will raise your center of gravity too much. Maybe not, but either way i dont need use of my +1 seat and carry gear very often. If i do, its usually not a trail ride and i can get away with just pulling my wagon behind. but if you do need a passenger and gear then they would be hard to beat for sure.

But, i am happy with what i came up with. Tool box was a little more than i wanted to spend, but the 2 together i have $120 in. Cant complain about that. Sorry, the TSC site doesnt have a link to the box, but it is in there paper catalog if you have access to that.
