I have an 03 Predator. I bought it in November of 2002. I love it. Got over 6000 miles on it and will probably run it till it finally has had enough. Many of the miles on the machine are from when we rode in Windrock, in Tennessee. Very rocky, steep nasty trails prevail there, and this machine was up to the challenge. If you're riding mountain trails, or a lot of in the woods riding and not wide open, do like I did and gear it down. I dropped a tooth in the front and added a couple in the back and it's perfect. It's got power like crazy, I never felt like I was gonna run out of it...and yet, mine is still stock so there is a lot more to be had.

If you can get the 07, it has reverse, something the 04, or 03 don't have...which is the only thing I miss on mine, but have gotten used to it. I have the option of riding Sportsmans or my pred when I go riding, and very rarely do I wanna ride the Sportsman.

BTW, I am no youngster, I am 45.

Good luck..

It's been a long time since I've ridden enough miles in a day to run it out of gas, but I'm pretty sure it was 75 miles or so, at least. Depends on what you're doing, obviously. I only ran out one time, and of course i was with my son and my dad, and had just run my big mouth about how I had enough to get back to the parking lot.

Ive been out on a lot a day long trips, and that was the only time I ever ran out of gas. I really don't think you'll be disappointed in a Pred...of course, the Outlaw is a good machine too, and some of them have IRS. If I were gonna make a move, that's what I would buy...and they can be had for a good price nowadays.

Polaris was good about fixing the initial "quirks" the Pred had, so in terms of desirability the '05 plus years are probably the best. Pretty sure '05 was the first year for reverse. For an extra 500 bones it is an easy decision as long as condition is at least similar on both machines.
