Default Won't rev up

I am working on an 06 magnum 330 for a friend. It quit running and he let it sit for awhile.Took it apart found that the flywheel area had been full of water at some point everything was completely rusted removed flywheel and removed rust. Machine is now getting fire. Found water all in the gas tank, cleaned it out. Removed carb and cleaned throughly. It wasn't dirty to my suprised. Added fresh gas and started up it would idle but as soon as you touch the throttle it dies. I did some searching on this sight before posting and this is what I have tried. I checked the cam to see if it was flat, it isn't. Tried pulling transmission sensors, nothing. Drilled air/ fuel mixture plug and tried adjusting it not sure what to set it to but tried all kinds of positions. Adjusted needle to top. Tried air box on and off. Checked diaphram. Put a new spark plug in. Disassembled carb a couple more times. It will rev up if u use carb cleaner or fuel straight into carb. Not sure were to go next with it. Don't really want to put a new carb on if not necessary. Maybe you guys can help me out, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!! I put the lid on and it works now. I feel so dumb. I'm used to working on diesels not four wheelers, well I guess I learned my lesson! Thanks again.

most people don't realize that these are designed to have the filter and lid on to run correctly.
