Default 2003 Sportsman 500 pulls hard to right

I have a 2003 Sportman 500 HO. When I take it out of the garage, it pulls really hard to the right for about 30 seconds and then its fine for the rest of the day. Is this a common problem? Any thoughts on what it could be?

Change your hub fluid first and see if helps. If not then probable armature plate behind the hilliard assy that has become magnetized allowing awd on one wheel, even if awd is off! Common problem. Best to replace both plates as the other side will do it in the near future. OPT

Thanks guys, I assume that if its pulling to the right, that the left hub is the one thats engaging? I'll probably change the fluid in both anyway, but I just want to be clear.

Also, while I was looking over the front end, I noticed a small tear in the right front CV boot. I guess its possible that the CV joint could have damage. Is it possible that a damaged CV joint on the right side cause it to pull to the right? How hard is it to replace the boot?

just jack it up and turn the wheel to check to make sure it's turning fine w/ the cv joint. if the joint is clicking or feels jerky then maybe the damage has been done. either way make sure you use the polaris hub fluid and fix the boot.

Everything appears to be turning freely in the CV joints. No play, binding, or clicking on either side......maybe I got lucky. It did lockup a few times all by itself when I first started spinning the wheel. It seems likely that the armature plates may have gotten magnetized (like you guys said).

I quess I'm wondering about the CV boot replacement.

How big of a job is this?
Do I need to remove the axle, hub?
Do I need special tools?
Are there any tutorials, manuals on line?

I was hoping to learn more about the front hub/strut/CV/boot on the 2003 model specifically since it appears to be different than the rear one shown in the sticky post. I'd also like to learn more about the armature plates, etc.
