A few more pics. Last 2 pics are the top and bottom of devils backbone. Pics cannot do it justice. This thing is scary steep, long, and nothing but jagged rocks.

Definitely fun times. I'm glad no one got hurt this weekend. Some of the trails were definitely not meant for the inexperienced. I came across a young newbie back at the camp areas with a broken collar bone, and another with rock rash from *** to head. Oh to be young and dumb again. Hope to post some more pics when my brother sends me some of his.

Ugh, I broke a collar bone when I was a kid after hitting a jump sledding and going inverted. Hurt like crazy. No major injuries riding, thank God.

It sucks that your trails are closed to atv's in the winter and spring. I live in Indiana about thirty minutes from MI and/or OH. . and can ride trails year round in my area. Haspin is 3 1/2 hours south of me and open year round to wheelers. Not that you'll get me on those trails with snow cover. My area is quite a bit flatter compared to the southern part of the state.

We actually can ride most areas in wintertime as long as the temps are below freezing and there is enough snow on the trails that we don't ruin it for the snowmobilers. I've been on many a ride on groomed snow. It's a downright blast. ATVs have become so popular that they are the majority of machines on the trails in winter. I went on about 7 or 8 winter rides this year. We bring a small backpack stove for if it gets really cold to warm up with hot chocolate. The mud season is usually March 1st-May 23rd or longer if we have a really wet spring. In the 6-7 years I've been riding public trails that's only happened once. Even during mud season there are some railtrails open that we can ride on to get out of the house. Boring but good enough.

I can see your point depending on what you ride there. We stuck to most of the trails where jeeps couldn't go and the trails were in pretty good shape. My B-inlaw had a little trouble on a few with his raptor, but for the rest of us no problems aside some of the extremely steep hills where your butt hole had a pucker factor of about ten when decending.

I have not been to Haspin, but I spend some time at Red Bird. Looks like you had a good time.
