I really like the 01 mag mossy oak and can get a good deal on one but was wondering which quads have more power mag, rancher or ac and would the mag be better in mud and trail riding? all replies would be appreciated!

I have a mag and absolutely love it, they are indestructable. I have rolled mine several times and hasn't hert it yet.
As or the others, can't help you out./
I was supprised at how much power the 325 puts out, it is great.

Hi
i have two good freinds that have these quads.. And ive spent time on both them quite a bit.. For trail riding i would give the Nod to the magnum, just because of the ride quality..In my opinion its ride quality is much better than the rancher..In terms of power the Rancher wins hands down... It has a very torquey engine.. lots of low end power.. In the mud they are very close.it all depends on the situation and the rider....

The Magnum is definately the the most comfortable because my friend had one and it was one of the best-riding 4wheeler I have ever ridden. The Rancher is definatley gonna have the most power and the best reliability. The AC 300 has independent rear suspension and is probably gonna also be pretty reliable.
RIDE EM' LIKE YOU STOLE EM' and they will all do VERY WELL IN THE MUD!!!

I just finished looking at these machines to purchase one myself. I ended up choosing the AC300 for several reasons. First it had the independent rear suspension which gives you a smoother ride, Second it had the largest tank 4.75 gallons, third it has three gear ranges which will get you anywhere you want to go, and the fourth was no maintenance.
My second choice was the Magnum 325. My dad owns two sportsmans I think that Polaris makes an awesome machine. I just didn't want all the maintenance work that the Polaris requires. Other than having less features than the AC the Polaris is awesome.
My neighbor has the rancher ES and I just didn't like the way the honda handle and rode. I also heard too many problems about the ES (electronic shift). It also had the smallest gas tank, and drum brakes. I personally like disk brakes they have more stopping power and are easier to maintain. It also only has a single 5 speed with the first gear being ultra low. I prefered the different gear ranges on the Polaris and AC. So, for the Honda you get the least amount of features for the highest price.
My final decision came down that the AC offered a few more features than the Polaris like a speedometer, fully independent suspension and the other things I mentioned earlier.
The decision comes down to you!!! What are you going to use it for!!! I am using mine just to trail ride and hunt in the fall. 99% of the time I am just going to be putting along with a group of family and friends enjoying the scenery as we ride along. I wanted a machine that would be good at this and offer the smoothest ride and get me back to the trucks withou carrying extra fuel.
If you want something fast then go for the Polaris with its High/Low range you can cruise right a long and then drop it into low once the going gets rough.
Good luck in your decision!!!

I Would have to say I would take the AC but that is my own thoughts. The AC and the magnum are very comfy riders, it would be very hard to say which rides better. The ac too has a very simple trick to make it true 4x4. IT just take a little adjustment of the 2wd-4wd slecter to get three selection,2wd,4wd, and locked 4wd. You have to remember the ac has the same drivetrain and components of the ever reliable kingquad. Thats why its so easy to lock the front end up on it. So I the magnum and the cat(after you do the 10 minute adjustment to the 2wd-4wd lever) would be the far better mudders. I would give the power advantage to the rancher, but with the 3 gear ranges of the AC it makes up for the lack of power. If speed is your thing the rancher is it, if pulling is your thing the ac. The magnum falls in between its faster then the ac, but the ac could out pull it. I dont have much time on the rancher but i think the magnum could out pull it but the rancher could out run it. As far as reliability I think it would be a toss up with the cat and the Rancher, remember the cat has the bullet proof kingquad drive train. And the rancher has hondas reputation. As far as the magnum I think it should hold up well, polaris has done allot with ther reliability issues in the last few years. So I personally dont even see the rancher in the same league as the cat and the magnum. But that is my personal thought.

I too was in your same shoes until last week and after months pulled the triger on the Mag. So far it's been great. Here is one thing about rear suspension. If your going to be doing serious riding over ROCKS, the independent is the way to go. I have ridden all and when you are putting around, they all give a smooth ride. My wife likes the size and the ease of opperation too. It has plenty of get up and go. Either way, you will do well.
